FAQ

My friend has a drone, they said they can shoot my wedding for me, why should I book you instead?

Commercial drone operations, including media capture of events including weddings, requires the pilot of the drone to have received their part 107 certification and it must be active. Part 107 is a training course and test conducted live at a training facility that trains pilots on safe commercial drone operations for the guests but also for the other people sharing the air. This is required by the FAA for any and all commercial use of drones including photography and content creation. Wedding venues are also very expensive locations if your drone damages the property or causes any sort of human injury. Venues often require drone operators to submit their part 107 and insurance information to the venue prior to being allowed to fly on their property. Also your friend will not be able to achieve the shots we will be able to provide!

Are drones loud? Could this disrupt a ceremony/party/event?

During the event your drone pilot is nearby, they are aware of the environment they are in and are able to judge which drone will best fit the requested output by the client. Size of the drone does not directly impact whether it will be audible in your environment or not. Often smaller drones are louder as they require the pilot to fly closer to the subject while larger telescopic drones can be farther back and still getting that close up clear picture. We have a variety of drones to choose from depending on the situation and the requested output from the client. Drone noise will be a discussion during a design review the client prior to the big day. Most of the time guests barely notice the drone as its in constant movement around the venue, never in one place for too long.

What does the price include?

The quoted price for your event will have many factors taken into consideration after we have discussed your desired outputs in a design review call. There are also some non-negotiable factors that are part of every job no matter the duration or desired media outputs.

Requirements for all drone operations -

1. The drone pilot is certified under part 107 and they must follow all FAA guidelines for commercial drone operations. There will be time spent researching your venue, location, and agenda to ensure we are compliant with the FAA. We will be checking the local airspace regulations and airport / helipad proximities. We will be checking for any NOTAM (Notice To Airmen) requirements and any TFR (Temporary flight restrictions often due to sporting events or political personnel in the area). If any LAANC authorizations are required to shoot in your chosen location this is all factored into the quotation.

2. Weather checking. The FAA requires that all commercial operations are conducted under safe weather. The pilot will be utilizing paid applications to monitor the weather including the cloud ceiling heights and cloud separations. Weather can have a significant impact on the legality of the drone operations and must be closely monitored.

3. Venue scouting. The pilot will contact the venue and ensure that they have provided the appropriate allowance to operator drones on their property. Most venues will require that the pilots license and insurance information be provided to the venue in case of incidentals.

4. Drone Equipment & Liability insurance. All flights will require insurance for the equipment being flown but also for the venue and the people attending the event in the case of any incidents involving a drone and a person/property.

Are the drones toys? Why is the price so high to fly what looks like toy drones?

These drones are cinematic drones equipped with advanced camera systems. Some drones are small, some are large, some have 1 lens, some have many lenses. The drones are not toys and require precise handling to ensure safe operations and ensure that the photos you receive you will cherish for a lifetime.
